Modern Voids began as humble doodles made on scrap paper at various customer service jobs. Drawing inspiration from experiences at work, college, and social functions, as well as poking fun at the modern political landscape, MV illustrates the daily woes of the modern twenty-something. The series is centered around two hapless hollow-eyed humanoids, Roy and Lloyd, their cat Noodles, and political candidate Corporate Cthulhu. Other characters include young Republican Chad Tyler Miller-Smith, barista Ellie Beane, Plastic Bottle Vodka Girl, and singer-songwriter Sean Michael Hairflip.
“Artist Madeline LaPorte is a keen observer of human behavior and is acutely aware of the sometimes painful, often maddening ironies of day-to-day life. Her wit is biting, laying bare absurdities for readers to recognize and relate to. It’s an honest take on coming of age as a millennial woman, though it doesn’t fixate on the female experience alone. “Modern Voids” runs the gamut from politics and observational humor to anxiety and leading a life rich with cats. ” – Valley Advocate (http://www.valleyadvocate.com/2016/04/18/local-comic-books/)
Modern Voids is hand drawn in Northampton, Massachusetts by Madeline LaPorte.
Madeline is also the lead singer and keyboard player of Northampton old school rock and roll band The Jays and the bass player and singer of country folk trio The Franklin County Sweethearts.
